The Greatest Tricksters of the Flower World | Narrated by David Attenborough | 4K Nature Documentary

This nature documentary narrated by Sir David Attenborough himself takes us into the secret world of orchids and their beautiful flowers. It follows one of the greatest naturalists, Charles Darwin, on his research and experiments with his favorite family of flowers. Darwin’s book ‘On the Origin of Species’ shook the scientific world and far beyond. Yet it was his next book, devoted entirely to orchids, which filled in gaps and clarified his revolutionary ideas. Orchids have an ethereal beauty, whether growing hundreds of feet up in a misty rainforest or along the verges of busy suburban roads. Their exotic flowers are shaped for just one purpose – to seduce pollinators. Some offer a sweet treat, some a aromatic perfume but many use sex as a lure by impersonating a female bee or wasp. This is Part 2 of Plants Behaving Badly — a two-part series that explores the two groups of plants that captivated Darwin and continue to astonish scientists today. 🔔 Subscribe to Terra Mater for more amazing nature and science documentaries 👍 Like this video if you love orchids as much as we do! 💬 Do you have a favorite plant or flower?
