Can I put it on Airbnb? ➡️ https://akiyahub.com/airbnb-in-japan Yokosuka is often known for its naval presence, but there's another side to this coastal city that might surprise you. Just south of Tokyo and Yokohama, it offers a completely different pace of life, with waterfront neighborhoods, beautiful coastal scenery, and homes that can be far more affordable than you'd expect. In this episode, I explore Yokosuka with a local real estate agent and tour three very different properties. We start with a renovated family home for ¥19.9 million, move on to a never-lived-in house near Uraga Bay for around ¥30 million, and finish with a unique oceanfront property featuring panoramic sea views, a deck, and a jacuzzi for ¥39.8 million. Along the way, I also meet someone originally from San Diego to hear what it's really like living here. So, is Yokosuka really the San Diego of Japan? Between its coastal lifestyle, connection to the greater Tokyo area, and surprisingly varied property market, there's a lot more to this city than I expected. And that final house might just change how you see what's possible near Tokyo. That all changed when I bought my first Akiya (vacant home). I was hooked, and soon started Post FI to help others do the same. In 18 months, I helped over 100 people successfully purchase a home in Japan and start living their dream! You can learn about their amazing journeys here on my channel. Now, I’ve co-founded and launched AkiyaHub to help thousands more. The truth is, the window to buy these overlooked properties won’t stay open forever. Prices are still low, renovation support is still available, and more people are discovering the opportunity every day. That’s a recipe for rising demand and shrinking supply. I want to help as many people as possible who love Japan and want to be part of revitalizing it before this door closes. In my experience, the hardest part is starting. While it’s 100% possible for anyone to own a home in Japan, navigating the process is anything but easy, even for locals! That’s why I wanted to build AkiyaHub: ✅ A community-first platform where people who love Japan can connect, share, and learn together. ✅ All the tools and resources I wished existed when I was just getting started. ✅ The team & partners IN Japan to help make it happen regardless of where you are in the world. I knew I couldn’t do this alone, so I’ve also worked hard on finding and bringing together an amazing group of individuals that form our team here in Japan. Their goal is to support you from your first search, to closing the deal, to hosting your first Japanese BBQ (which I hope to get an invite to 😀). My goal? Make buying a home in Japan the easiest part of your journey, so you can focus on what really matters: living your dream here. To all my fellow Akiya Hunters: Whether you’re searching for your forever home or your next investment, I would be honored to play a small part in your story.
