6 Cats Welcome You at This Japanese Onsen Ryokan 🐈♨️ Yamaguchiya Ryokan

The inn is located in Shiobara Onsen, a hot spring area with more than 1,200 years of history. Surrounded by the quiet landscape of satoyama, people have long visited this place in search of its gentle hot springs. The ryokan has its own natural hot spring source, producing about 100 tons of water each day. I enjoyed the large public bath, the garden open-air bath, and a private bath, all fed directly from the natural hot spring source. Around the inn, the cats—some of them siblings—play together, sometimes come to “patrol” the guest rooms, and rest peacefully in different corners of the building. I spent time playing with them, and they even helped me choose my yukata. At night, I enjoyed a kaiseki dinner featuring A5 wagyu, and later spent a quiet time with the cats together with other guests who love them, as well as the owner and his family of the inn. By the way, one of the cats here, Mimi-tan, was rescued last year and was chosen as No.1 in Jalan’s “Inn Cat Ranking” this year 🐱 Location: Nasu-Shiobara, Tochigi, Japan
