Why the Congo Basin Is Still Off Limits to Humans
The Congo Basin covers more than three million square kilometers across six countries. It is the second largest rainforest on the planet, yet huge parts of it have never been surveyed by scientists, and some of the animals living there have only been recorded a handful of times.
In this documentary we explore what makes the deep Congo so hard to reach, from just how big the Congo Basin really is to the swamps and rivers that swallow roads and stop expeditions, disease, dangerous wildlife, animals hiding where no one can follow, and a canopy so thick that satellites can't see what's beneath it.
