SHINO AND THE OLD MAN

Wonderful documentary from Japan about the potter Arakawa Toyozo. It was made in 1968 by Matsukawa Yasuo. For information on this director and his work see https://www.yidff.jp/docbox/23/box23-... If you are a fan of this director, you might like to take a look at another documentary of his that I've just uploaded. It is a beautifully shot (by Nakajima Yo, who also worked on Shino) portrait of Oshika-mura, a village in the Akaishi mountains known for its own kabuki tradition and for its sizeable population of alternative lifestylers. Sorry, no subtitles for non-Japanese speakers.    • オオシカの村１      • オオシカの村２      • オオシカの村３   .
