They Hunted the Healer Into the Forbidden Forest... but the Bear-Man Everyone Feared Hid Her

When the jarl’s son dies of fever in Liv’s care, her fate is sealed. Branded a witch and hunted through the snow, the desperate healer runs for the one realm forbidden to mankind for fifteen winters: the Bear Forest, marked by ancient bone totems. The jarl stops at the border, sending his relentless huntsman, Ulf, and a pack of trackers into the trees to finish the hunt. Inside the frozen grove, the rules of men no longer apply. Tracks dwarf human footprints, deep claw marks scar the birches far out of reach, and the hunters begin vanishing into the mist. When Liv plunges through cracking ice, an unseen protector casts a lifeline from the shadows. At twilight, the legendary beast finally steps forward: the silhouette of a bear, but the piercing eyes of a man. Instead of claiming her life, it shields her—and on its wrist rests a woven red knot matching the one Liv wears herself. They hunted the healer into the forbidden forest… but the creature everyone feared became her only salvation. And Ulf knows far more about the curse of these woods than he lets on.
