｜Frenchman Phillipe Troussier led Japan's national football team as its head coach from 1998 up to the 2002 FIFA World Cup. In the winter of 2002, nearly six months after the end of the global event, he was concentrating on treatment for his knee at a rehabilitation center overlooking the sea in southwestern France. He began to reminisce about his four years in Japan and reveal the truth behind the 2002 World Cup, including why he didn't select Shunsuke Nakamura for the national team, his complicated relationship with Hidetoshi Nakata, and the decision on the starting lineup for the match against Turkey.
