Ten songs set in the city during that subtle change of season. 現像を待つフィルム、休暇明けのオフィス、片づけられるプールサイド、台風前夜の電車、夜の高速道路。 夏が終わったことを大げさに告げるものはなくても、いつもの暮らしの中には小さな変化が残っている。 A roll of film waiting to be developed, the office after summer vacation, a poolside being closed for the season, a train on the eve of a typhoon, and the highway at night. Nothing announces the end of summer dramatically, but small changes have already begun to appear in everyday life. 電話をしない。 会社では名字で呼ぶ。 恋人にはならない。 会っても名前を呼ばない。 戻らないと決めたのに、ひとりの車内ではまだ話しかけてしまう。 Not making the call. Using a surname at the office. Refusing to call it love. Passing someone in the same city without saying their name. Deciding not to go back, while still talking to them when driving alone. このアルバムにあるのは、きれいな別れ話ばかりではない。 近づきすぎない二人、終わったことにしている二人、まだ次の土曜日を気にしている二人。 はっきり言わないまま続いている関係を、何気ない会話や仕草の中から描いている。 These are not simply songs about clean endings. Some keep their distance, some have decided it is already over, and some are still thinking about next Saturday. Their relationships are left undefined, revealed instead through ordinary conversations and small gestures. サウンドは1983〜84年頃の日本のポップスを軸に、シティポップ、シンセポップ、ブギー、ソフィスティ・ポップ、ディスコ、フュージョン、ジャズ歌謡、メロウ・ファンクまで幅広く展開。 電子リズムと生演奏、シンセサイザーとRhodes、CP-70、ギターやホーンを曲ごとに組み替えながら、それぞれ違う九月の景色を作っていく。 Musically, the album is rooted in early-1980s Japanese pop, moving through city pop, synth-pop, boogie, sophisti-pop, disco, fusion, jazz-kayō and mellow funk. Electronic rhythms meet live instrumentation, with synthesizers, Rhodes, CP-70, guitars and horns shaping a different September scene for each song. 夏は終わったのか。 まだ終わっていないのか。 その答えを決めないまま始まるのが、September Blue。 Has summer ended? Or is some of it still here? September Blue begins without deciding the answer.
